CVS & Target haul: lip gloss, blush, shirt, dress, flats

posted by prettydaysies at 10:29 PM 0 comments
so i'm at my mother-in-law's house now and we're enjoying our time here! we laid out on the hammock for a while and had a delicious dinner, desert, and cappuccinos. now we're settling in for the night... it's only 11:23pm here, but it's only 10:23pm where we live... and we're dead tired!

i uploaded this video early this morning so i could get it out of the way, but based on the signal here at the house, i might have issues uploading videos like i had planned. i might have to do this early in the morning again... or right after midnight. i plan on doing a quick OOTD or FOTD or even try to record in the bathroom putting on an easy look with a little bit of vlogging. we'll see how that goes.

i didn't take a lot of video today because i had a HUGE headache on the plane and it continued after we got picked up and then it just became a dull headache by the time we had dinner... but i took an Aleve and it almost went completely away. i'm sure a good night's sleep will take care of the rest. i hope you're all doing well! i miss y'all already... xoxo Kathleen

what's in my stash? tarte LipSurgence

posted by prettydaysies at 4:09 PM 0 comments
even though the Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stains just came out, let us not forget these tarte LipSurgence lip products! they weren't the first on the scene with chubby lip balm products as Clinique started it off years ago, but i think they are still just as good! two noticeable differences: minty taste & price.

i like all the colors i've received in kits, but i will not shell out $24 for one on its own. it's just not worth the price... especially when the Clinique chubby sticks are only $16 apiece and the Revlon balm stains are on average around $6-9 (depending on where you are). plus tarte comes out with kits with at least one or two or five LipSurgences! if you have a favorite color, let me know. i hope it's included with a kit! xoxo Kathleen

i was lucky enough to find these at my local Target!

i did try one of them (i think it was Darling, but it could've been one of the berry colors) after i filmed this video and i had dinner and it didn't come off at all!  i didn't wear it for hours on end, but usually anything i have on my lips have been eaten off after an hour or so. it lasted on my lips and it was a nice stain, too! it did feel a tad bit dry, but not drying. i think there is a difference between the two. i didn't bring any with me on vacation but i might pick up a couple more because my Target was missing a couple. the display only held 10 out of 12. so i'll keep you updated! i hope you're able to find them at your local stores but i read somewhere that it's permanent and will be in all stores by May 28. xoxo Kathleen

FOTD show & tell bareMinerals peaches & plums (using the May Year of Beauty color)

posted by prettydaysies at 10:07 PM 0 comments
this is probably my last show & tell video until i get back from vacation... but i couldn't skip my Thursday Bare Escentuals look!

unfortunately, i will have to skip next week's BE look since i won't be in town and won't be bringing any BE makeup with me on vacation. however, the 31st is the last Thursday of the month so i'll be back with another look.

i have a lot to do tomorrow so i'll be uploading a video i've already pre-recorded... i have laundry and packing to do... i also have lunch plans with a couple of friends. i also hope i will kick this sore throat that reared its ugly head a couple of days ago. i've already take Tylenol Cold, Tylenol PM, and Zicam. i don't want to bring this with me on vacation! right now, my throat (only on the left side) doesn't hurt as much as it did this morning... i'm not coughing either. i know that when it started hurting my mouth was open and felt cotton mouth when i woke up. it's been lingering ever since. i hope it doesnt turn into a full-blown cold or flu because that would just SUCK! okay, i'm outa here... i'll see y'all tomorrow! xoxo Kathleen

what's in my travel makeup bag? volume 2 (plus what's to come for the rest of May)

posted by prettydaysies at 8:08 PM 0 comments
first off, i hit 300 subscribers today! w00t w00t! it feels like it took forever this time around. last time i started making videos for YouTube, i think i hit 300 after 4 months... this time i hit it after 5.5 months. i don't like to pimp myself because i find that bragging. i just like it for people to find me. if they like me, they'll sub. i've also been trying to see how i can incorporate a giveaway on my channel without looking like i'm fishing for subscribers... because let's face it... everyone says "you have to be subscribed to my channel" if you want to quality for a giveaway. that always attracts trolls and sore losers, i think, and drive-by subscribers... those who subscribe for the giveaway, never comment, and then unsubscribe when they didn't win.

so i am not sure what to do just yet. i have an idea, but i think it would be hard to accomplish... we'll just have to see. i still haven't hit that certain milestone yet.

so when i'm away on vacation, i'll actually only have to upload 5 new videos. we get to my parents' house on Saturday so i can upload a video when i'm there. they have DSL but their upload speed is way faster than ours! we have AT&T U-Verse with super-fast download but crappy upload. then we don't fly out until Sunday so i can upload a short video before we head to the airport. i have a couple of pre-recorded videos that are very short so i'm going to transfer them to my MacBook which is what i'm taking with me on vacation. if i wasn't uploading anything, i would just take my iPad, but since i want to edit and i'm not familiar with iMovie on the iPad yet, i'm bringing my MacBook. then from M-F, i'll upload short videos like FOTD or OOTD and other life stuff (that you'll see on my other channel: hellodaysies). we'll be back on Saturday sometime in the late afternoon so i'll be uploading a video around that time when we get back to my parents' house. i just don't want to skip any days in 2012. i want to fulfill my goal of uploading every single day in 2012. i know that's silly... but it's what i want to do.

i've gotta get a move on with packing... i have laundry to do, too... i always wait until the last minute to pack because i just don't know what to bring ahead of time. i just want to go on vacation! xoxo Kathleen

quick EOTD show & tell soft lavender eyes featuring tarte puttin' on the glitz girls' night out palette

posted by prettydaysies at 8:10 PM 0 comments
this has got to be my shortest talking video to date! i did cut out a lot of stuff because when i film, i do film both eyes and i cut out what i do with one of the eyes.

i think what makes these EOTD videos go so fast is because i cut out eyeliner. you can achieve some darkness with using the darkest eye shadow in place of eyeliner. the way i did my "eyeliner" today was based on a technique that Joy on QVC did on yesterday's tarte show. she does this wedge thing with the darkest color in the outer corner and brings in the dark color to about halfway across the upper lash line. this brings depth in just the outer corner without having to do the outer V and all that jazz. i think this technique totally suits my eye shape and after trying it in this video, i think it came out looking good, if i do say so myself... i think this technique will also help me test the waters with different darker colors, like navy blue! yeah! i totally want to do a navy blue eye now. LOL stay tuned for that! xoxo Kathleen

collective haul CVS, Walgreens, ULTA, $3 philosophy at Big Lots

posted by prettydaysies at 7:42 PM 0 comments
so sorry i didn't upload this the day i bought the philosophy makeup... had i done so then you probably could've found some at your Big Lots. a few of you are coming up empty... i feel so bad! i really wasn't going to even upload it until next week sometime, but Gina/citrushearted really wanted to see it since she also found some herself earlier that day.

next time i'll try to post my time-sensitive hauls that same day or the next. i'm sorry if i didn't give you that opportunity to get anything... or at least look. on the bright side, at least you saved your money. LOL xoxo Kathleen

quick EOTD show & tell featuring Smashbox Beauty Exposed palette

posted by prettydaysies at 8:20 PM 0 comments
i'm starting a new type of video to my channel where i only show you what i've done with my eyes. the show & tell will start after i have already put on my eyelid primer. if i use a colored base, like in this video, i will show you that as my first step.

i think these types of videos are much easier to film and edit and will be shorter than other videos. i won't have to be redundant with regards to telling you what i already did on my face. so i'll just jump ahead to the eyes. i hope you like these types of videos. once in a while i'll do a full-face makeup especially when i finally finished this Clinique Even Better makeup and move onto another foundation. so in the meantime, the face routine will be the same until all these items are finished. mucho kudos to those who are sticking to the stringent Project X Pan... in a way i am, too. i don't have 10 products and i'm switching it up sometimes... but the only difference is that i'm still buying makeup! when you're on PXP, you can NOT buy any new makeup until you've finished 10 products. i can NOT do that. there is just no way and who am i kidding? i'm obviously not fooling you when i say that i'm not buying any more makeup for such & such time. it's like i have to say that after feeling guilty for buying these things. oh, well! i'm only human! LOL xoxo Kathleen

you're probably rolling your eyes at me, right? no more buying makeup? yeah, right! LOL

i bought these items when Ebates was giving 8% cash back. i just can't help myself! i have a problem! hi, i'm Kathleen and i'm a makeup addict! LOL i really can't wait to use these BUXOM cream eye shadows. they are so pretty! i swear all my money, what i have left, is going to Bare Escentuals and their awesome products. xoxo Kathleen

i went a little bit more dramatic in today's look... i think you can easily do that with purples, don't you think?

i'm excited to do this again with a navy blue! there's an awesome navy blue in one of the bareMinerals READY 8.0 palettes. sometimes i have so many ideas that i can't even pick one to start with! well, there are still many more days left in 2012 where i can definitely come up with more looks. xoxo Kathleen

collective haul CVS & Sally Beauty Supply

posted by prettydaysies at 8:29 PM 0 comments
after visiting my local Sally Beauty, i finally found the lip gloss that Tracy & Stef/eleventhgorgeous teamed up with Palladio to make!

it is such a nice pink lip gloss and it smells so delicious (vanilla). i actually picked up a couple more for a potential future giveaway. :)

sorry for uploading so many pre-recorded videos this week... i checked and i uploaded 3 this week! i've not been in the mood to put on makeup this week or do other makeup-related videos... but i'll try to upload all new videos until i leave on vacation... which can't come soon enough!

so i hope you have a good weekend and i'll be back tomorrow with another video! xoxo Kathleen

FOTD show & tell cranberry smokey eye using the BUXOM Tango e/s palette

posted by prettydaysies at 8:27 PM 0 comments
since it's Thursday, you get a show & tell video from me!

i'm not the expert at smokey eyes, but i try to practice whenever i see a dark color that i really love. in this BUXOM e/s palette, i picked "embrace" which is the dark cranberry color. i must confess... i think i didn't do a really good job at blending out the cranberry and the charcoal color... maybe that's why i got a thumbs down? i don't know... but that's okay... i'll just keep on improving, right?

for next week, i need to pull out one of the kits i bought in the past and try to recreate a look from that (or pick something from my box of inspiration). for the following week, i'll be on vacation so i hope to have a BE video pre-recorded to upload on that day. i was almost thisclose to skipping that Thursday and upload an OOTD or FOTD while i'm on vacation, but i really want to stay consistent. most likely, i'll be uploading really short "on the go" vlogs with a hint of beauty. LOL xoxo Kathleen

collective haul: Skechers, LOFT outlet, Target

posted by prettydaysies at 9:38 PM 0 comments
this is the last clothing haul from my repository of pre-recorded videos...

i do want to share with you that i got a nasty comment on this video... i deleted it and blocked the person who left the comment. for the past few weeks, i've allowed all comments to be posted freely on my videos instead of moderating them. i've had no issues until today. i got a drive-by comment from someone who wasn't subscribed to me. it was rather mean-spirited. the comment was about my shirt and how stripes would make me look "fatter." i'm not the skinniest person in the world, but i do mind constructive criticism if it's something you don't like or have issues with. so adding "just saying" with a smiley at the end is supposed to lay off the blow of the comment? i don't think so. when i went to that person's profile, there was no profile picture and hardly a bio at all. the fact that this person wasn't subscribed to me meant that this person's comment was worth less than nothing.

i watch a lot of videos but i don't comment on everything i watch. if we watch each other, and exchange a lot of comments on each other's videos, of course, i will continue to comment. there are some channels where i will never comment because they already get so many comments on those videos that mine will just get lost in the mix. i know they will never respond to me even though they say they read all their comments. i don't know how they can. i'm sure their email or YouTube inbox is unmanageable! anyway, i'm more prone to comment on videos where the YouTuber doesn't have many subscribers, or even if they do and they respond to my comments, i will continue to comment because i think it's fun to comment back and forth with people you love to watch.

anyway, i don't know some of these people handle negative comments like these. i know that the bigger YouTubers just leave these comments on their videos and well, you get lots of thumbs down on the comments and comment attacks left and right. i don't want that on my videos. i don't want nastiness to breed more nastiness. so that's why i deleted it. if i see a lot of negative comments, i just X out of the video and move onto the next... or i just watch it and skip commenting. comments can ruin someone's fun... i don't know how celebrities do this day in and day out with the paparazzi in their faces all day long.  i would just hide in my house all day, but then that kind of behavior would be more fodder for the next gossip column.

so that's what i wanted to say on the matter... i love comments, but i hate comments that provide nothing of value to the topic of the video, especially when it's not constructive. i've blocked a handful of people on my old channel and this one. i think you become more vunerable on YouTube than any other social network because people actually see you than just your words. you start to develop a thick skin when you make videos. you just have to remember that people can easily hide behind their keyboards. they probably would never say these words to your face... regardless of that, i don't want their nasty words dirtying up my videos. i think you would feel the same. oh, and i will continue to wear stripes because stripes are fun! xoxo Kathleen

p.s. if you think i'm taking this to heart, i'm only human... but this isn't going to eat me up inside. delete & block... out of sight, out of mind. i know who my friends are. i'm not going to let a troll ruin my fun. :)

on the go: new haircut & grocery shopping

posted by prettydaysies at 9:22 PM 0 comments
so YES, i took the plunge and chopped all my hair off!

as you can see from the before haircut footage, my hair was just getting so unruly and unmanageable! i think i was a little too excited to get my haircut the first time (at this salon) and i should've not kept the length. by leaving it long, and then thinning it out so much, the shape of my hair from the back just looked so ODD! even for my face shape... so when i went back to the same salon, i asked Mina (not the same person who cut my hair the first time) to cut it all off. she even commented, "there's too many layers!" i agreed. so she basically hacked off the ends up to my shoulder-length layers and then started cutting and trimming slowly. after she flat-ironed my hair, she thinned it just a little bit because at this length, without thinning, i would immediately have mushroom head. so i'm still going to need to flat-iron my hair anyway, which is not a big deal.

as much as i loved my long hair, i probably should've kept it thick and not heavily layered or thinned... but the only drawback is that it would be so extremely heavy. if only my face was a bit thinner, i think i could've pulled off the thinned hair look. but i'm not so i need to stop fooling myself. LOL i am much happier with this cut and i think in a couple of months, i'm going to go shorter and ask them to thin the back a bit more so i won't get mushroom head so quickly. i hope you know what that means... "mushroom head"... when your short haircut starts to grow out, your hair just sits on your shoulders and then just balloons outwards and not fall over your shoulders to the front or back just *on* your shoulders. thus getting that mushroom head look. i can already tell that i'm going to get it soon because my hair grows so fast. that's okay. this haircut only cost me $25 with a $10 tip. it doesn't break the bank like my haircuts used to when i went to ULTA.

so i'm very happy with my new, oldie but goodie hairstyle. it feels great and i'm ready to wear my summery clothes (but i'm not ready to deal with the summery, sweltering hot weather here in TX). thank you so much for all your sweet comments on the video and on Twitter. you ladies rock! xoxo Kathleen

LOFT clothing haul pastel-colored capris, cardigans, earrings

posted by prettydaysies at 9:06 PM 0 comments
whoops! i forgot to blog this yesterday.

i have yet to wear the lime green and aqua blue capri pants, but i will be bringing some of the capri pants/jeans that i have purchased in the past with me on vacation... i think the weather will be slightly cooler over there than here so i won't feel so hot wearing the capris (because they are a little snug upon wearing them for the first time, but they stretch out after a while). actually, we're having good weather today and for a few more days this week... well, good as in it's overcast and it's keeping the heat away but it's kinda gloomy outside to be wearing such bright colors. LOL like today, i wore dark brown capris and a grey/blue top... you'd think i was going into autumn! (which is my favorite season ever!)

anyway, i gotta start thinking about what i'm going to bring on vacation... i know i'll overpack as i always do but i'm going to try to be more sensible... we'll see. LOL xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! QVC NewBeauty testtube (spring-summer 2012)

posted by prettydaysies at 7:03 PM 0 comments
in case you missed it, or if i never said it before, this is the only beauty subscription service that i have. i don't sub to any of the monthly ones because they just don't appeal to me. i like deluxe samples and not the teeny weeny ones that those other monthly ones give. you can not go wrong with the QVC NewBeauty test tube as you will like at least half the items and it'll be way more than the $30 you pay quarterly.

one of my friends on YT (MissLoveBE) has told me that she uses the Wen cleansing conditioner after she shampoos as her second cleanse. i think i'll try that as i'm still working through my current shampoo and i have another shampoo bottle to go through. i think i'll start that after my current conditioner is done. when i watch Chaz Dean on QVC, he says that you need this many pumps for your first cleanse and then this many pumps for your second cleanse... you would go through a small bottle in like 2-3 uses! that's not very efficient to me since i have such long hair... so i think i'll just use 1/2 the recommended pumps so i can make these bottles last a bit longer. also, i plan on getting my hair cut this week for sure! it's getting so long and unruly. i think the novelty of getting it thinned this much has finally worn off.

one more note... i met up with Yun/beautybijouxfashion and Sandra/makeuploverusa again today! we had a blast chatting and eating and drinking! LOL we met up at Starbucks in Uptown and then had lunch on the patio at a Thai/Vietnamese place. we went to a gelato place afterwards, then window shopped at a few stores, and finished off the afternoon with Starbucks (i had an iced chai latte this time). Sandra even gave us roasted seaweed! it's totally been my favorite snack for the past couple of months. i honestly can't wait to see these two lovely ladies again. i hope we can continue to make this a monthly meetup. xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! Sephora VIB 15% haul (bareMinerals, tarte, Laura Mercier)

posted by prettydaysies at 9:24 PM 0 comments
i was finally able to upload this video (i still have a couple older videos) after teasing you all with the products in previous videos...

i don't have much to say today except that i'm finally watching Downton Abbey... it seems like it's a 1912 soap opera... kind of like Days of Our Lives. it's okay so far... there are only 7 episodes in season 1. hope you had a nice Cinco de Mayo... we had Mexican food for lunch. we should've gone to our regular Tex-Mex place and not this new one. we weren't very impressed with the service or the food. oh, well! xoxo Kathleen

FOTD show & tell featuring Laura Mercier lingerie eye & cheek palette

posted by prettydaysies at 11:08 PM 0 comments
in the past, i was always too shy to tweet famous people/popular brands or companies on Twitter because i always feared that i would say something stupid... then i realize they probably have thousands of people tweeting them all day long that they wouldn't even see my tweet. this also applied to beauty YouTubers on Twitter... i've tweeted some and i might get a response back... there are a few people who ALWAYS respond back regardless (like Emily/emilynoel83) and i absolutely love that... i appreciate the acknowledgement! sometimes i wish everyone was like that, but i totally understand they can't sit on Twitter all day long responding to people, especially when it starts to get repetitive... but it would be nice to do so once in a while... i guess they would have to know if you've tweeted them in the past.

anyway, what was i saying... the reason why i brought this up is because i got TWO tweets from different companies based on the videos i created and tweeted. one from Bare Escentuals and one from Laura Mercier! i don't know if BE actually saw my video after they said "can't wait to see it!" and i don't know if Laura Mercier saw mine either, but Laura Mercier responded back, after i had tweeted the link to this look, with "flawless!" (which tells me they did watch it) and retweeted me, too. OMG i was so giddy like a school girl! and that's what i'm talking about. their one-word acknowledgement totally made my day! i even took a screen shot of our exchange so i could keep it forever. LOL

anyway, here is the video of the look i made with Laura Mercier's lingerie palette. it was my first time using it and i'm in love! i would've never bought the palette had i not seen Sandra and Yun talk about it on their channels. i've never bought anything from LM before... but now i have a wishlist! LOL i think this palette was the best introduction to her makeup line. the shadows are so buttery smooth and applied so easily! you really can't go wrong with any eyeshadow combination in this palette. all the colors go so well together! i can't wait to use it again... i'm glad i put it in my makeup basket of the month! i'll probably use it again on Sunday when i meet up with Yun/beautybijouxfashion and Sandra/makeuploverusa again. i'm so excited to meet up with them again. xoxo Kathleen

BUXOM FOTD show & tell featuring the new Color Choreography Eyeshadow 5-shade palette in Swing

posted by prettydaysies at 11:54 PM 0 comments
this eyeshadow look came out so nice! it was my first time using this palette and i think i did a pretty good job coming up with a look on the fly.

i can't wait to use the Tango palette next week. i love the fall-ish colors. i want it to be Fall already! it's not even Summer yet and i already want it to be cold again.

sometimes i feel rushed when i do a video like this because i worry that i'm going to have 1) a huge file to import into iMovie and 2) i'm going to spend hours editing. well, i don't think i've ever spent more than an hour editing, but then again, if i added more bells & whistles to my videos, i can see it taking more than an hour or two. anyway, when i'm not filming and just putting on makeup, i feel like i'm a lot more careful with my makeup application. when i'm filming, i feel like i'm put on the spot and all eyes are on me... even though i'm all by myself. doesn't that sound weird? i guess i'm still not 100% comfortable showing others how i put makeup on myself. i'd rather talk about it than show how i do it... yet i'm so excited to do these Thursday videos!

i really like BUXOM's first attempt into pressed eyeshadows. between the READY eyeshadows and this one, i prefer the READY ones more. BUXOM already dipped into the eyeshadow realm with their cream eyeshadows and i currently only have it in "mutt" but i'm expecting 3 more (which i already did receive today and i'll record the unboxing tomorrow). i wonder if they'll release cream eyeshadows in their bareMinerals line... then again, there are lots of rumors of new products that will be debuting on QVC on May 18th (when Leslie Blodgett returns after a long haitus).

anyway, i hope you like the look. i hope i can come up with a different look using the same palette. i already know which palette i want to get next... and you'll just have to wait and see what it is. xoxo Kathleen

i wanted to rip into the Sephora package i got yesterday but i waited patiently and opened it on camera today!

i was really excited to get this package because Bare Escentuals' other makeup line, BUXOM, released their pressed eyeshadows as well! the list of ingredients in these shadows are not as natural as the READY pressed eyeshadows that BE released in their bareMinerals line, but it really didn't matter to me. i just wanted them and i'm glad i did!

they are really pretty shadows and pretty pigmented, too. they felt smooth under my fingertips and swatched pretty good, too. i was so excited to try them on, i used the Swing palette in my Thursday's FOTD show & tell video... which came up next! xoxo Kathleen

makeup basket of the month: May 2012

posted by prettydaysies at 7:38 PM 0 comments
i think i'll have fun with this makeup basket for May. i picked some good stuff that i've only looked at and never used! spoken like a true makeup collector, right?

when i picked up my hubby today from work, i asked him to look at my makeup, which i sometimes do, and he said he liked it, which he always does. i asked him if my lip was too bold and he said no. i was like, "really? it's not too hot pink or bright for you?" he still said no. so what looks bold and bright to me definitely doesn't look bold and bright to him, and since i value his opinion, it just gave me an extra boost of courage to wear more bold and bright lip colors. it's a good thing since i've been so drawn to them lately and i don't want to waste my money (his money) on makeup that'll never be used.

i've also been getting more comments and compliments on my videos where i wear a bolder lip so that's definitely helping my self-esteem some more, too! i picked up a couple more bold lip products from Revlon that i have already filmed in a haul video today and you'll be seeing that soon. i'm back up to 8 pre-recorded videos because i just can't stop! i just want to film and edit and film and edit. i'm also so behind on tag videos so maybe i'll run through some of those when i'm on vacation because i'll be doing a lot of relaxing and to me, making videos and editing them are relaxing! i know, i'm weird. xoxo Kathleen

my collection of red lip products

posted by prettydaysies at 6:45 PM 0 comments
wearing red lipstick or lipgloss has been completely out of my comfort zone, but i think i'm totally okay with it now! even though i didn't find it until after i filmed this video, i did find my perfect red lip which is "strength" from the bareMinerals pretty amazing line.

however, i really like "sheer red" from NYC. i think it looks so good on me (if i do say so myself) and on all skin tones. i just put that collection of red lippies away today as i was organizing my makeup table in preparation for my May makeup basket of the month. fortunately, i didn't put away the Revlon lip butters because i'm planning on using only lip butters for the month of May so i will be wearing red this month! i hope!

i was planning on recording my May makeup basket of the month video, but i was feeling very lazy and just wanted to watch BONES on my computer. so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. i have six more pre-recorded videos left to upload so you'll probably see another one this week, two more next week, and the rest the week after that before i go on vacation (or maybe while i'm on vacation). i'm still going to film and upload videos while i'm on vacation but they'll probably be car vlogs or OOTDs or FOTDs and short videos like that. i love doing this for you and for myself, too... i don't think this is work at all! xoxo Kathleen

products that i'm using currently (in preparation for June 2012 empties)

posted by prettydaysies at 9:08 AM 0 comments
another type of video i love to watch are videos showing product that you're currently using, which is similar to makeup basket or project pan videos. this is my version of project x pan because these are the items i'm trying to use up. i find this type of "project x pan" is better suited for my style because of how large my collection is. i could never ever ever do a full project x pan because i cannot stick to 10 or however many products and not buy anything new during that time.

i think that is the key. i think i can do a project x pan because i did feature some makeup items in this video that i'm trying to use up, but my weakness is that i have to buy something! i don't know... i have such a large collection that i really don't need anything new, but i love certain brands that i just want everything from them and that is something i can't just quit myself from doing... for example, Bare Escentuals.

i have a small spiral notebook on my makeup table with a full page of brands that i will no longer buy from without exception. and then i have a full page of brands that i will continue to buy from but it also includes brands that i will only buy certain things from. like Revlon... i love their lip products but i don't need anymore eyeshadows from them so i'm banning myself from buying those things, but i will keep checking out their lip products, especially if they come out with more colors in their lip butter line.

i think the only way i can ever do a project x pan is if i ban myself completely from YouTube, Twitter, blogs, and all other social networks... and that isn't happening. LOL xoxo Kathleen

April 2012 empties! (includes Scentsy bars that i finished)

posted by prettydaysies at 8:55 AM 0 comments
my first empties video! woohoo! it may look like i had a lot of empties, but i've been collecting in this box since February. most likely i won't have nearly as much for my June empties video.

i LOVE LOVE LOVE watching empties videos! if you're a makeup collector like me, it's very hard to finish anything... but when you do, it's so satisfying! it makes you feel like your makeup was worth it. i don't know... but i think that when i'm able to get through at least 1/2 my foundation and concealer collection, i won't feel so guilty for having hoarded these products for so long.

i just hate throwing away makeup that i spent money on! i mean, i've done it in the past (before YouTube) like when my nail polishes got all goopy and separated (and shaking them doesn't do anything) and lipsticks got rancid or melty... i've only throw away a couple of foundations that didn't match my skin (but i still have a shoebox full of face products that i haven't even given away or thrown away).

anyway, i am excited to start collecting my empties again for June. i'm trying to just use up items that are at least 1/2 to 1/3 almost done. it's just the best way to whittle down your collection. also, these videos act as a way to remember what you used up and thrown away in case you want to repurchase them in the future. xoxo Kathleen

what's in my stash? Clinique lipsticks & lip glosses

posted by prettydaysies at 5:53 PM 0 comments
yay! my last pre-recorded video from March... i have about 7 left to go that i pre-recorded this month...

i don't have a lot of beauty-related tidbits to share with you today... i've been rather distracted because i just watched the live webcast of NKOTBSB on-line! yep, for $4.99, you could watch their concert from the O2 arena in London, England, UK! i've been to two of their concerts last summer so i've been really jonesing for a fix! since i am not going on this year's cruise or their Mixtape Festival in August (in Hershey, PA), this was the next best thing.

OMG what a great concert! Livebeats hosted the webcast and their camera positions were excellent as well as the audio! the stream didn't freeze up at all during the concert! NKOTB had a webcast a few years ago from Dallas (or Houston) and i didn't even know about it! so when i had the opportunity to watch it this time, i couldn't pass it up! i mean for only $4.99 you could forego a Starbucks for one day, right? it was just like being there but higher up and in their faces. since i'm so short, i had to peer over the heads of the people around me and that made it very annoying and uncomfortable for me. so this was just so excellent! plus, you didn't have to hear all that screaming. i mean you could hear it, but it wasn't as loud as their singing. i actually pulled out my video camera and taped the whole thing! i skipped the intro (which is the best) and part of "Summertime" but i got the rest. as i'm writing this post, i'm watching it back. you can tell i was recording it off my monitor as you can see dust particles skewing some of the screen (not bad at all) and you can hear me clicking my mouse! HAHA i was tweeting with my girlfriends who went to the concert with me.

during the concert, they shared some secrets with us... no new NKOTB news, but new BSB news! they are going to record their new album in July... Kevin Richardson is coming back (after a long haitus)... and AJ is going to be a dad! that's awesome! okay, enough rambling about my long-time obsession... i had so much fun watching it! it couldn't have been better than that... except if i could go on the cruise this year. LOL xoxo Kathleen

birthday party OOTD & FOTD

posted by prettydaysies at 10:48 PM 0 comments
i really need to figure out how to do an outfit of the day in proper lighting so you can see my clothes (and not my dusty mirror) and my face of the day, too.

if i aim my iPhone at myself so that i'm looking at myself in the phone, i feel like the phone is too shaky and i find myself out of frame all the time. i should just use my video camera but there is not a lot of room behind my makeup table and i find myself backing up against the closet door. i know i can reposition my camera, but i don't want the background to be so busy. i'll figure it out. xoxo Kathleen

what's in my bag? volume 2!

posted by prettydaysies at 10:36 PM 0 comments
i absolutely love this bag! it fits everything i need without it getting bulky or getting things lost. i've been to the same mall since i bought this Coach purse and i didn't go in! yay, me! i have a handful of Coach purses but they are too small to really fit anything, so i only use them when i'm on "date night" with the hubby or going to a party (which is a rare occurrence). LOL

i won't be buying anymore purses anytime soon because i think i have enough and because i don't need anymore. i'm working on building up my Clarks shoe collection with the money i would've spent on purses. speaking of Clarks, i have two more pairs of sandals coming my way! i have an addiction! LOL

i've been using this bag solely since i recorded this video... but when i go on vacation, i might switch it up with my white Tignanello one because i call it my spring/summer bag... it's huge! i have a pewter cross-body bag that i might bright with me, too... i don't know. i haven't started planning on what to bring with me yet. our tickets haven't been purchased so once they are, i will be in packing mode! xoxo Kathleen

on the go: FOTD, OOTD, a haul from Dillard's, Bath & Body Works, Bare Escentuals, and many thanks

posted by prettydaysies at 8:48 PM 0 comments
these car vlogs are so much fun to do, but when you're talking to yourself, in your car, i sometimes get tongue-tied and repeat myself! LOL

i need to wrap the birthday present and also check to see when the party is. we're going to the Science museum. i don't think i've been to the one here before. i've been to the Houston Science museum many, many times when i was younger.

so i still didn't get my haircut... somedays i like it long and straight and then somedays i just want to cut it all off. i just want to grow out my bangs! when i comb my bangs down straight, it goes past my nose, but when i sweep them to the side, they are still too short to tuck behind my ears. i think i'll cut my hair before our vacation in May.

i hope you all had a great end of the week. i'll be back tomorrow! xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! tarte's The Miracle of Maracuja Skin Smart Collection from QVC

posted by prettydaysies at 8:24 PM 0 comments
another pre-recorded video, but it, too, was over a month old. i can finally use this kit! LOL

just kidding... i could've used this kit already, but i completely forgot about it! oh the woes of having too much makeup. geez Louise! i really need to pare down my collection. i found a bunch of gel eyeliners that i got from Coastal Scents that have completely dried up. i didn't even use them! i think it was because the cap was plastic and even while i thought the caps were tightly screwed on, air still managed to leak inside. it doesn't matter to me anyway... i have lots of eyeliner pencils and potted eyeliners that i like to use more. the ones from CS are probably not salvageable anyway so i'll just toss them when i remember to do it.

question, though... i can't remember if i mentioned this in the video, but what can you do with the maracuja oil other than use it as a moisturizer on your face? can you use it in your hair? i really liked using the Josie Maran argan oil in my hair. i guess i can just Google it. it does smell good! xoxo Kathleen

FOTD show & tell featuring bareMinerals rose gold high shine eyecolor

posted by prettydaysies at 9:01 PM 0 comments
i took about 3 hours to film, import, and edit both videos today. this didn't even include exporting the videos prior to upload. well, i took a short break in between to FaceTime with my youngest sister and 9-month old niece.

i don't know why it took this long to use these high shine eyecolors! they are so pretty! i remember walking into the boutique to see them and one of the girls showed me how she applied them and i was amazed at how her eyeshadow looked. i took the easy way out in this video and only used one color, but i will use two or more in a future video. i picked up all the brochures that were displayed with these eyecolors because i knew that i would need some inspiration.

these high shine eyecolors have a LOT of fallout! as i was watching the video back while i was editing, i could see that they were all over my eyelashes and then they fell on my lower lash line, too. it wasn't difficult to remove, but fallout is really not a pretty sight. it's a good thing this color wasn't so dark otherwise it would look like i got punched in the face! LOL i hope you like today's look! xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals foundation routine using realTechniques brushes

posted by prettydaysies at 8:44 PM 0 comments
this was a requested video because i mentioned that i used the realTechniques brushes to apply the bareMinerals foundation... so i decided to include it in today's video, since it's Thursday after all.

i really love these brushes! they clean so well (even spot-cleaning) and deep clean even better. YT subbie MyEricBana (cute name) commented on that video saying that she uses the Everyday Minerals brushes. i totally forgot i had them and thing is, i have so many of them! they were the first makeup brand, that i know of, that came out synthetic brushes like these. i mean, even before the precision kabuki set from Sigma Makeup. i need to pull those EDM brushes out and show them in a video because they are very good brushes, too. on that note, i need to start incorporating my EDM eye shadows into upcoming looks, too, because they are really pretty... and the company is based in Austin! xoxo Kathleen

collective haul! Sally Beauty Supply, Walgreens, Ulta (Hunger Games polishes)

posted by prettydaysies at 3:38 PM 0 comments
this is another pre-recorded video from March... i'm going to try to upload the rest of the videos that i recorded in March really soon because they're already over a month old! yikes! this is what happens when i record too many videos at once and then only upload once a day. i just don't want to spam your subscription box!

after this video, i think i've only purchased 2 more nail polishes in the last month... can you believe that? i believe i already showed them, but i might not have... i can't remember what videos have already been recorded and not uploaded... so you'll eventually see them... and the only new nail polishes i'll purchase will be the ones from Hello Kitty at Sephora and possibly any high end dupes from Revlon. Revlon is so good at releasing dupes! i think i have 4 of them already but not all of them...

but yeah, this was my last biggest nail polish haul... no more hauling like this! the last makeup item i purchased was on the 16th and it was one of the L'Oreal Infallible cream eyeshadows (the black sparkly one). i'm dying to get my hands on the eleventhgorgeous Palladio lipgloss but the last time i checked my local Sally Beauty Supply, they didn't have it. i haven't checked ULTA either... but at least i'm being upfront on what i'm looking to buy... and not just buying in bulk. LOL (that's how i'm justifying my future purchases.) let's see how long that goes... xoxo Kathleen

post-weekend update

posted by prettydaysies at 9:13 AM 0 comments
so i did good this time around and did not go shopping for clothes or makeup!

i'm really trying to stick to my plan of not going shopping for clothes or makeup until we go on our longer vacation next month. i only have to hold out until the 19th of May! i think i can do it...

i will also film a "what's in my travel makeup bag" for when we go on that longer vacation because most likely i'll take different items and more of it.

i did good this time, as well, with using all the makeup that i brought with me, except for a couple of things. one was a lip balm and the other was a lip pencil. i didn't really count the lip products i had in my purse because i always switch those out, but during this trip, i didn't even reach for them because i was too busy playing with my nieces and hanging out with my family. i didn't even reapply any lipstick... except for maybe once or twice... which is actually more than what i do on a regular basis.

i'm finally caught up with my blogposts for my videos! sorry for spamming your feeds... i just needed to complete it! thanks for reading... xoxo Kathleen

on the go: FOTD, Buc-ee's, and picking up the Boo

posted by prettydaysies at 8:45 AM 0 comments
this video was fun to make and almost a little intimidating! LOL i've never filmed inside a store before since i started making videos this time around...

i really wanted to take you into a Texas store and what better store than Buc-ee's! there are smaller locations than this one, but i wanted to show you the biggest one that attracts the most people. it's a popular stopover for folks who are travelling between Dallas and Houston and any town in between. it's located in Madisonville, which always gets a kick out of me because my dog's name is part of the town's name.

this was also the first time i ever did a voice-over in a video! i didn't know how anyone else did it so i just experimented it. the microphone from my iMac made me sound like i was in a tunnel. then i realized that my webcam was still plugged in (and the webcam has a microphone, too) and after i unplugged it and recorded my voice again, there was no change. after about 7 attempts, i decided to pull out my iPhone earbuds from my purse and use that. and VOILA, it worked! i had to rerecord my voice two more times because i was speaking too close to the microphone. once i got it to sound correctly, that last try is the one you hear in the video. i might get a USB microphone from Fry's so i can just leave it on my desk... but now i know how to do a proper voice-over!

i mentioned this in the car vlog when i took the dog to the kennel the first time and when we picked her up and took her home, she did bark a little and some of her voice was gone... it sounds so funny! she just has to bark when there is someone outside. at least she's good at alerting us when there is someone walking in front of the house. then for the rest of the day, she passed out. xoxo Kathleen

FOTD & OOTD April 22nd

posted by prettydaysies at 8:32 AM 0 comments
i filmed this at my parents' house, in my youngest sister's bathroom. i thought it would be nice to show you what i had on today because i quite liked the outfit i put together!

it was not as cool outside as it was the day before but i still wore my white cardigan which is like a million years old from The Gap. i have a black one just like it and i think the dog ripped a hole in it. anyway, i really liked the tank top, and honestly, i almost thought it was "grandma-like" because of the pattern, but it isn't. LOL i don't have many tank tops like these because i tend to gravitate to solids and stripes. at least i was able to make it work! otherwise, it would've probably sat in my closet with the tags on. (i have a lot of clothes still with their tags... how sad!) ugh... looking at this video, i desperately need a haircut! xoxo Kathleen

realTechniques brush haul

posted by prettydaysies at 8:14 AM 0 comments
i finally picked up a bunch of realTechniques brushes at an Ulta about 10 miles from my house because the one less than a mile from my house is ALWAYS OUT of these brushes. i hate going to that Ulta because they never stock their shelves.

i will be doing a full "what's in my stash" realTechniques collection video because i bought all these brushes over 3-4 shopping trips and some of you are new to my videos and have asked if i bought this brush or that brush and i just want to make a collection video so you can see what i have and how i use them. i just love these brushes! they wash so easily and dry quickly and they're simply fab! xoxo Kathleen

my favorite nail polishes for spring & summer

posted by prettydaysies at 6:45 PM 0 comments
i could probably do a part 2 or 3 to this video... i realize i left out a bunch of colors! maybe i'll do another one of these when summer rolls around...

i have been rotating through these colors... changing my polish up every few days. i do give my nails a break in between color changes. i'm enjoying these colors a lot! xoxo Kathleen

what's in my travel makeup bag?

posted by prettydaysies at 6:28 PM 0 comments
i think i did okay with not bring too much makeup during this 3-4 day weekend trip. i probably could've just taken one NAKED palette, but i wanted to bring both. it was also nice to bring my Clinique foundation as i'm finally done with the pressed foundation and i needed to start using up my liquid foundation.

it's nice to have options when you go out of town because you never know what you are going to use and if bought any new clothes, you never know what will go with those new things. neutrals are always a way to go and that's why i only brought my NAKED palettes. that's what i tend to like anyway... xoxo Kathleen

on the go: taking the dog to the kennel & random blatherings

posted by prettydaysies at 6:18 PM 0 comments
i love making these car vlogs! they are really so much fun to watch as well. in this video, you get to finally meet my beloved pooch, Madison. she is the love of my life (other than my husband).

Madison LOVES going to the kennel... and the vet! i think she just loves riding in the car so she's excited to go anywhere it takes her. what a silly girl! xoxo Kathleen

FOTD show & tell teal blue & grey eyes with peachy lips & cheeks

posted by prettydaysies at 5:59 PM 0 comments
it was totally on a whim to put this eye look together. i needed to use the April shadow from my Year of BE collection and it was a soft, silvery blue, and i decided to pair it with a grey shadow. totally fall colors, but i was just in the mood! i think it came out really nicely...

for the next Thursday video, i think i'll include my foundation routine using my realTechniques brushes, like the multi-task brush and the buffing brush, because it has been requested, and also because i have been leaving out the foundation part of my makeup routine before i start recording. xoxo Kathleen

tag: 19 (random) questions

posted by prettydaysies at 7:21 PM 0 comments
i finally uploaded my response to the 19 questions tag that had been going around YouTube. i just love these types of Q&A tags. i find it so much easier to answer questions than to come up with stuff on my own. LOL

when i see a tag i want to do, i email myself with the questions (if it's a Q&A tag) and the link to the video or the name of the YTer who did the tag. i think i have like 7 tags to do! at least i have things i can do when i'm drawing a blank. then when i have completed the tag, i archive the email so i don't see it anymore. these tags have been so much fun to do... especially when the people you are subscribed to also do the tag, too... i just love that.

i know i've said this several times already, but i just love making YT videos this time around because of the interaction. when i first started, i got like zero interaction... and this is even after i made comments on videos i've watched, too... maybe it's because the people i used to watch had sooooo many (like thousands, or tens of thousands) of subscribers so they NEVER respond to comments. i just hate that. i mean i would love to have thousands of subscribers, but i'd rather have the close interaction with my subscribers instead. i have done so well with responding to comments this time around... i mean i did this, too, when i first started in 2009, but i think that's why i quit the first time due to the lack of comments. i don't know. it's just better this time around and i'm 100x happier. xoxo Kathleen

on the go: testing my new universal car dash mount (for my iPhone)

posted by prettydaysies at 8:15 PM 0 comments
i should've purchased the mount that suctions to the dash, but i got something else and i can't find the right spot to put it so you can see me clearly without the steering wheel obstructing the view. i'm going to keep on playing with it... you don't mind being my guinea pig, do you?

i also need to stop shopping! LOL if it's not makeup, it's clothes, shoes, and accessories. OMG i never used to do this. even when i was still working in the office, i could go at least a couple of years without stepping in a department store or mall. makeup wasn't even on my radar! YouTube made me do it all! LOL xoxo Kathleen

on the go: OOTD & FOTD

posted by prettydaysies at 7:41 PM 0 comments
this video was a lot of fun to make! i wedged my iPhone into the nook where you see your gas meter, speedometer, and i was able to make a car vlog! i'm calling them "on to go" videos. i think i'm going to do more of these because they're quick and easy and i don't have to edit them.

i would love to get an attachment for the iPhone that i can stick on the dashboard or the windshield so that i can angle it better. putting the phone in this nook are is really not flattering at all! LOL i hope you enjoyed this type of video. xoxo Kathleen

OOTD/FOTD & a lipstick haul PLUS i met up with my YT girlfriends again!

posted by prettydaysies at 10:04 PM 0 comments
yet another fun day with my new girlfriends! i met up with both Yun/beautybijouxfashion and Sandra/sandrawaltersusa today at the mall and holy moly, we talked for nearly 5 hours! we didn't close the mall this time (we came close) but we had a lot of fun catching up and getting to know each other even more. this is what makes making videos on YouTube so much fun - meeting such great ladies like Yun and Sandra. i'm so thankful that they live close enough to me so we can meet up from time to time.

we met up at noon and then chatted while walking towards a restaurant in Nordstrom for lunch. then we chatted some more and after that, we walked around the mall and hit up Sephora, MAC, and Neiman's. before today, i never went into Neiman's unless i was just walking through if i parked near by. today, we went to the Chanel counter, Dior, and Bobbi Brown. wow! i never touched any of these brands before so i was in AWE because i was actually holding these products in my hands instead of just learning about them on YouTube. i already know what i want when i'm ready to try out a new brand: Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in Mirifique (black w/ shimmer) and Ebloui (burgundy w/ shimmer). OMG both Yun and Sandra bought it for themselves and i wish i did, too! but i held back because i know they're permanent and i know i can get them another time... but wow, i so wanted to bring home Mirifique. the Chanel MUA put it on the upper lashline on both Yun and Sandra and it just kicked their eyeshadow look up a big notch. it was just so pretty! i just couldn't justify paying $36 for one cream/gel eyeshadow... however, i did spend just as much on 3 items at Bare Escentuals.

at our mall, the Bare Escentuals store moved and now it's called bareMinerals. i thought that was a little weird and had no idea they were going to rename their stores. i finally bought the red lipcolor Strength in their Pretty Amazing line, another 100% natural mineral lipstick in Red Zin, and the charity eyecolor in Invincible. i also exchanged 18 more eyeshadow empties at MAC and got 3 lipsticks: See Sheer, Amorous, and Creme In Your Coffee and i'm so happy with these colors! i think See Sheer is my favorite out of the three, but i'm pleasantly pleased with my MAC lipstick collection. as i said in the video, once i have exchanged all my empties, i will not be buying anymore MAC. not because i don't like it anymore, but because i have WAY too much and i just need to use what i have. it'll probably take me years to make any kind of dent in my MAC eyeshadows.

we took a break during our shopping spree and got some frozen yogurt (me) and shakes (Yun and Sandra) and talked some more. i felt that there was just no awkward moments. i think the fact that we watch each other every single day on YouTube it helps take away those awkward silences because on YouTube you subscribe to those you like to watch because of what they say and how they say it. Sandra said she felt like she was meeting movie stars and i found that so sweet and funny. i was just happy to meet new people who i call my friends now because they can totally appreciate how enthusiastic we can get when it comes to talking about YouTube and beauty. i think i like YouTube more than Twitter or any other text-based social network because you just get that extra closeness of the person you're watching. i don't know if that makes any sense, but it make sense to me. it also helps that these girls are so nice and sweet and actually interact with you. some of the more popular YouTubers just don't have the energy or the time to respond to comments. i mean when you get that big, you can't respond to every single comment, but it's worth a try, i think.

anyway, i've rambled on enough... i'm currently watching all these QVC episodes that somehow my DVR picked up. i'll be seeing you tomorrow! xoxo Kathleen

date night OOTN & FOTD

posted by prettydaysies at 9:20 PM 0 comments
so for date night, the hubby won free tickets to see La Cage Aux Folles. i had never seen the movie The Birdcage, so i was curious to see this musical and it was just nice to do something like this with my husband. we hardly do things like these because we're such lazy bums and we just love to stay at home and relax.

before we left for the theater, i filmed a face of the day and outfit of the day because i quite liked how my makeup looked. i couldn't fall asleep after we got back home so i edited and uploaded it around 2am! so i hope you enjoyed this bonus video. xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! Clarks Bendables sandals haul from QVC

posted by prettydaysies at 9:07 PM 0 comments
i uploaded this video on Saturday because i wanted to spend time with my sweet hubby...

first, we had lunch at one of our new favorite Japanese restaurants. we both got an "eki don" type dish where it's a variety of fish or meat in a bowl (over rice) and other pickled veggies and the bowl is one where it has a handle on one end. Japanese people ate these types of dishes when they rode on the train because the bowl was easy to hold and you don't have to hang onto too many little things (without spilling or dropping it all over the floor or yourself). i wasn't too thrilled with the dish i got (ginger pork) because it had too much meat and i wasn't too keen on the pickled veggies. i liked some, but not all. i enjoyed my favorite "Washington roll" and my miso soup, and they gave us a little dish of frozen yogurt in my favorite original tarte flavor.

after that, we went to our favorite Asian grocery store and STOCKED UP on roasted seaweed! OMG i love this stuff! ever since i saw Benji/BenjimanTV snack on this on his & Judy's daily vlogs (itsjudyslife), i had to try it. and it's so addicting! i love the salt! LOL i know that sounds funny, but it really makes a difference when you eat the roasted seaweed. i've tried the ones that are less or not salty and they are just no good. you have to get the ones that are salted. it was just trial and error because i can't read Korean... but i think we've found our favorites and they're so cheap to buy in bulk. now i'm craving it again! xoxo Kathleen

collective clothing haul: LOFT outlet, Ann Taylor outlet, Old Navy

posted by prettydaysies at 7:09 PM 0 comments
i really needed to get some housework done so i uploaded a haul video i recorded on March 26th.

and after uploading this video, it feels like i didn't even do anything today! LOL it actually feels kind of weird, but i needed to upload this video because it was starting to feel outdated. i actually have a couple older videos than this one that still need to be uploaded, but i held off because the content wasn't really so time-sensitive. i had been talking about my LOFT hauls quite frequently on Twitter so i just needed to do it. and i still have another LOFT haul to upload! LOL yeah, i'm a LOFT addict. it's really my favorite clothing store in the world.

it did feel good to clean my house. i only cleaned the top floor (we live in a 3-floor townhouse) and i was on my hands and knees scrubbing the shower. YUCK. i hate cleaning the bathroom. it's my most hated chore (other than vacuuming) but i did it and now i can relax. i still have to clean the middle floor (which has our kitchen, family room, and a half bath) but i'll probably get to it next week. at least i got the top floor done... i'm there all the time. hope you had a more eventful day than me! xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals FOTD show & tell Bare Luxury A-D #2 kit Inspiration is Everywhere

i got this kit 2 days ago and i finally got to tear right into it! i was MOST excited about the Marvelous Moxie lip glosses... i call them the tamer plumping version of the BUXOM lip glosses. i can't believe i'm still going to get 4 more glosses with this series of kits!

right when i opened the kit, i almost thought this was the Return to Radiance kit that comes with the READY blush and the foundation primer... but i was still pleasantly pleased because it came with the glosses... and the round the clock waterproof eyeliners with the new cap! hearing that "pop" when you take off the cap is music to my ears! i've mentioned this before either in a blog post or in a video that 3 of my 6 round the clock waterproof eyeliners dried out and that they were going to fix the cap issue and i was really happy that they did! i hate wasting products! i wonder if i sharpen the dried out liners enough to get to product that wasn't dried out... like the product towards the middle of the container? i'm curious enough to try!

i just checked my auto-delivery shipments from QVC and the next one is in May and it's the Mally Defend Your Beauty collection. then i get another tarte kit -and- the 3rd bareMinerals Bare Luxury kit in July and the next bareMinerals Return to Radiance in August. that means i don't get another READY blush until August! oh, man! LOL so i have plenty of kits coming my way over the next few months... and so why do i still shop for makeup? your guess is as good as mine! LOL i hope you enjoyed this look! i recorded about 29 minutes of footage and had to whittle it down to 17. xoxo Kathleen

The Hunger Games OOTD & FOTD & Ulta haul

posted by prettydaysies at 9:42 PM 0 comments
whoops! i forgot to blog again yesterday! i don't want to make this a bad habit!

i finally went to see The Hunger Games all by myself. i enjoyed the movie. it had a lot of suspense and action. i didn't realize i was so tense throughout the entire movie that when i walked out, i couldn't walk! my legs were so stiff! it was so painful to move! LOL i do need to read the book itself as i only listened to it via audio. i know i missed a bunch of stuff that didn't show up in the movie and couldn't quite understand some of the stuff that did happen in the movie. i should know by now that i can't pay attention to audio books. i get so easily distracted that while i think i'm listening, i'm really not and then i'm lost or too lazy to rewind.

i hadn't been out of the house in a while because going out of the house usually means i go shopping so i treated myself to lunch at one of my favorite places and then went shopping at my FAVORITE clothing store ever - LOFT. then i went to Ulta (before i went home) and picked up the rest of the real Techniques brushes that i wanted and a couple Revlon lipsticks and a couple of cream eye shadows. i think i did pretty good at holding back on wanting to buy more. i perused the nail polish section and picked up a few bottles but did not put them in my bag. i really cannot buy anymore nail polishes because i have every color that i need. my collection is utterly ridiculous.

anyway, i enjoyed my day and i also received the rest of my packages that were already coming to me in April. i plan on not buying any more makeup until i go on vacation in May. i think i can do it. do makeup brands come out with summer collections or just spring? either way, i am going to try my best not to buy anything until i go on vacation in May and even then, i might not pick up anything new because i don't think we'll be going shopping much. i just plan on relaxing by the lake, taking in the sites, and eating lots of good food... like you should do on vacation. xoxo Kathleen

tag: 10 little secrets

posted by prettydaysies at 9:29 PM 0 comments
this was another fun tag to do! i have so many videos i want to do and i want to upload them all at once! but if i do that, i won't have a reservoir of videos for when i'm out of town. and even then, i don't even know if i can upload anything because i know that the internet connection at the places where i'm staying aren't as good as mine and i don't want to hog up the bandwidth either. so i have no idea what i'm going to do...

most likely i'll just upload the videos when i return or try to upload at night when no one is using the internet. i just don't want to miss a day! i don't want to break my streak...

i finally broke 200 subscribers today! i'm actually at 202! i keep talking about reaching a certain milestone but i don't know what it is yet... if i commit to a number, it's going to drive me crazy so i'm just going to see where it leads me... i'd like to reach 1,000 subbies by the end of the year, but if i get to 500, i'll be a happy camper. as long as i'm still happy making videos, the number of subbies i have really doesn't matter. i'm currently so happy with the amount of interaction i'm getting in the comments on my videos. i never got this kind of feedback when i first started in 2009. i think it's because i never commented on any of the videos i watched so i was kind of invisible. i don't want to be invisible to the people that i subscribe to.

anyway, i have my BE video to film tomorrow, which is an unboxing plus a look using the products. then i'm going to film my LOFT haul from yesterday. i also have about 3-4 more tags to do, not because i was tagged, but because i want to. i find tags to be one of the most fun videos to do! i don't know why i didn't do them more often. oh, well! i'll see y'all tomorrow! xoxo Kathleen

what's in my stash? NARS cosmetics (and a FOTD using NARS)

posted by prettydaysies at 6:54 PM 0 comments
i have a tiny collection of NARS cosmetics in my collection. as much as i would love to own one of their blushes (like Douceur), i am holding back on this brand during my "no buy 2012." in fact, i most likely won't buy anything more from NARS because it's a brand that i can't seem to get into. maybe it's the price point. most likely, it is the price point. i could actually do without all my NARS products - EXCEPT - for the smudge-proof eyeshadow primer. OMG you have to have it. it's such an awesome primer for your eyelids.

i do have oily eyelids and even when i use the NARS smudge-proof eyeshadow primer, my eyeshadow still creases on me... BUT my eyeshadow lasts LONGER with this primer. i can't tell you how long it lasts because i don't wear makeup for very long. when i'm not going out of the house, i only wear makeup when i film my videos and then i quickly take it off after i get back home from picking up my husband from work. that's probably about 4-5 hours, give or take. there could be slight fading in the inner corner, but no creasing on the rest of the eye. i give that an A in my book. i don't think you would go wrong owning this in your collection.

other than that, i love the eyeshadow palettes - the shadows go on very smoothly and are very pigmented. i've not used the Laguna bronzer as a bronzer but as an eyeshadow and it's a very nice color to wear on the eyes as well. i only tried the multiple in Orgasm during this video so i can't tell you how it wears on me because i actually put it on top of my blush instead of underneath. i might try it again in a future video. on a side note, i'm so close to 200 subscribers i can almost taste it! xoxo Kathleen
