bareMinerals foundation routine using realTechniques brushes

this was a requested video because i mentioned that i used the realTechniques brushes to apply the bareMinerals foundation... so i decided to include it in today's video, since it's Thursday after all.

i really love these brushes! they clean so well (even spot-cleaning) and deep clean even better. YT subbie MyEricBana (cute name) commented on that video saying that she uses the Everyday Minerals brushes. i totally forgot i had them and thing is, i have so many of them! they were the first makeup brand, that i know of, that came out synthetic brushes like these. i mean, even before the precision kabuki set from Sigma Makeup. i need to pull those EDM brushes out and show them in a video because they are very good brushes, too. on that note, i need to start incorporating my EDM eye shadows into upcoming looks, too, because they are really pretty... and the company is based in Austin! xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! bareMinerals Return to Radiance kit

i finally received my kit from QVC! i am so happy to finally own a pressed blush from Bare Escentuals! it's so pretty... it kind of reminds me of Orgasm from NARS but i don't own any NARS blushes... i'm just going by the many swatches and appearances it has made in so many beauty videos.

i absolutely love the Marvelous Moxie lip glosses! i love the tingle and they're not over-the-top tingle like with the BUXOMs (and i like those lip glosses as well). i'll be getting 2 more from auto-delivery with this kit and then 4 more with the other auto-delivery kit. so many new BE kits coming my way! yay!

after lunch today, i went to Sephora to try and find the eyebrow pencils from BE but they were no where to be found. i think they may only be available on QVC... not sure. i also looked at the BUXOM True Hue blushes (i only own one at the moment) but i didn't pick up any. also, they have the new lip creams and i really wanted to get one but they were out of the color that i wanted. so i came away from today's shopping trip with nothing. i think that's really good will power, if you ask me. i know that i do not need to buy any of the Marvelous Moxie lip glosses because the colors i'm getting in future QVC kits are part of the permanent line and i don't need doubles. i don't think i would ever finish a lip gloss (or a lipstick) ever in my entire life. well, i take that back... back in the day, when i had like 1/100th of this collection, i actually used up my makeup to the point that the sponge tip applicator was all messed up and the eyeshadows and blushes crumbled. wow. i don't think i could ever do that anymore. xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals foundation application

just a quick video of how i apply the bareMinerals foundation. i'm currently using up the matte foundation but i also like the original. i have several full containers of the original foundation still in my stash, but when i get the golden medium (i'm currently using medium beige) next week, i will switch to that. i think it's going to be a better match for my skin. if i want to make it lighter, i can always mix in a bit of medium beige.

Mally Beauty Fierce Face in Five Minutes FOTD show & tell

so my video is currently exporting and the time remaining is 28 minutes and my iMac clock says 11:24pm. most likely, i won't be able to date/timestamp my video for the 19th... i'm totally bummed because i didn't want to miss a single day. i didn't miss creating a video, i just missed uploading it the same day. it'll probably appear in your subscriptions around 1-2 in the morning because it's a super long video at around 25 minutes... which means it'll take about 1-2 hours to upload. it's a good thing i'm not exporting it in HD because that would be a nightmare to upload and totally suck up all the bandwidth in the house and piss off my husband. LOL

i did have a lot of fun with my friend today. she and her fiance and i went out for hibachi for lunch and then she and i went to the mall to go shopping. i picked up one thing from the mall (and gorged myself on Auntie Annie's pretzel bites - so yummy) and then we went to Target to pick up a few more things. i'll show you what i got tomorrow and talk a little bit more about what we did today. i gave her a makeup trial in the comfort of her own bathroom using her NAKED palette which was UNTOUCHED! OMG i can't believe she hadn't touched it once since she bought it last summer, i believe. that's just crazy! LOL we filmed the makeup application, but i didn't take the footage back home with me. i don't even know if it's watchable because the video camera was on a tripod and i was putting on her makeup and neither of us was checking the camera. so we could've been completely out of frame. DOH! nah, i think i got it all... except towards the end when we were playing with the eyeliner and trying to figure out if she would look best in pencil or liquid. i had only used eyeshadow as a liner... but we settled on pencil for the final look. she is only like the third person i've ever applied makeup to. all i can say is that using neutral eyeshadows is a safe bet. you really can't mess it up... too much.

anyway, that was pretty much my day. my makeup lasted pretty well... i really didn't check myself in the mirror too much. i was clearly shiny when i got home, but i only had to smear away the smudgy eyeliner once while we were out... but that's typical because whenever i put eyeliner on the lower lash line, it always smudges without fail. i should've set the liner with powder or put some powder below my lower lash line to soak up the oil. oh, well... it just doesn't matter that much to me. anyway, it looks like i still have 15 more minutes to go and then i'll start the upload. i'm getting really tired all of a sudden. i'll be back tomorrow. xoxo Kathleen

jewelry haul! (charming CHARLIE, francesca's, Brighton)

i really need to find a better way to store and display my necklaces. right now, i have them hanging from pushpins on a bulletin board, and the board is sitting on the floor. i've already knocked it over a few times... and what a pain it is to hang all the necklaces back up! i really need to find actual hooks with pushpin backs so the chains don't slip off easily.

in other news, i'm trying my hardest not to order tonight's TSV on QVC for Mally's newest collection. i really want her to try her new liquid foundation. it debuted on its own a few months ago, but you can't buy it individually on QVC at this moment. i'm not really interested in the liquid blush because i prefer powder/pressed blushes, but i really like her mascara, eyeliner, and shadow sticks. they are really bulletproof! however, what's holding me back is that i really don't need another foundation as i'm trying to phase that out of my makeup routine. i would really like to wear a tinted moisturizer or a light-weight liquid foundation or just go back to using Bare Minerals. i'm still holding out for them to release a pressed foundation. i'm crossing my fingers and toes! LOL

anyway, i can't wait until that day where i no longer have to wear concealer because that means i have no more spots to cover up! for the first time in a few days, i wore makeup today and i used my Clinique almost powder makeup. after that, i only had to cover up a few spots with my MAC studio sculpt concealer. i'll watch QVC tonight to see the demonstration before i make my final decision, but i'm leaning towards not buying it because i simply do not need it. this "no buy 2012" is so much harder than it looks! foundations that i'm currently using

i don't own a lot of foundation simply because i always have a hard time trying to find the shade that matches my skin and so i just don't buy any. i've only been matched a few times (by M.A.C, Clinique, and in Shoppers Drug Mart in Vancouver) and i've been satisfied with those matches. however, when i go by myself to the drug store, i just can't see what they see. in the past, i've bought my fair share of foundations that didn't match my skin, but i've been quite successful recently. however, i plan on not buying anymore foundations (as part of project no-buy 2012) until i've used up what i have. it's a good thing i really don't own that many foundations.

in today's video, i show you what i am currently rotating through, but i completely forgot about the other foundations that are stashed away in my makeup drawers (the white drawers you see in the background of some of my videos). i forgot i had bought the M.A.C mineralize satinfinish foundation and also the Clinique superfit and acne solutions foundations. i also forgot that i have a handful of tinted moisturizers, too. i'm not sure when i'll add them to my foundation rotation... probably when i've made a serious dent in what i have on my makeup table.

one of my longtime subscribers (from my old channel "daysies1974") mentioned that she really enjoyed this camera angle as she could see the true color of whatever i was showing. so i think i'll be filming from my makeup table a lot more and take advantage of the natural light that comes in from the windows that flank either side of the table. i'll probably film from my desk when i have to show products that aren't too dependent on the color or when i just need to vlog or something. i also want to cover up the wire shelving that's behind me because i think it looks ugly. i had put up some window sheers but that looked ugly, too. i don't know if i want to buy a screen and wrap it in some cute fabric. i just want a non-cluttered background. oh, well, it's not too too important at the time being.
