quick EOTD show & tell soft lavender eyes featuring tarte puttin' on the glitz girls' night out palette

this has got to be my shortest talking video to date! i did cut out a lot of stuff because when i film, i do film both eyes and i cut out what i do with one of the eyes.

i think what makes these EOTD videos go so fast is because i cut out eyeliner. you can achieve some darkness with using the darkest eye shadow in place of eyeliner. the way i did my "eyeliner" today was based on a technique that Joy on QVC did on yesterday's tarte show. she does this wedge thing with the darkest color in the outer corner and brings in the dark color to about halfway across the upper lash line. this brings depth in just the outer corner without having to do the outer V and all that jazz. i think this technique totally suits my eye shape and after trying it in this video, i think it came out looking good, if i do say so myself... i think this technique will also help me test the waters with different darker colors, like navy blue! yeah! i totally want to do a navy blue eye now. quick EOTD show & tell featuring Smashbox Beauty Exposed palette

i'm starting a new type of video to my channel where i only show you what i've done with my eyes. the show & tell will start after i have already put on my eyelid primer. if i use a colored base, like in this video, i will show you that as my first step.

i think these types of videos are much easier to film and edit and will be shorter than other videos. i won't have to be redundant with regards to telling you what i already did on my face. so i'll just jump ahead to the eyes. i hope you like these types of videos. once in a while i'll do a full-face makeup especially when i finally finished this Clinique Even Better makeup and move onto another foundation. so in the meantime, the face routine will be the same until all these items are finished. mucho kudos to those who are sticking to the stringent Project X Pan... in a way i am, too. i don't have 10 products and i'm switching it up sometimes... but the only difference is that i'm still buying makeup! when you're on PXP, you can NOT buy any new makeup until you've finished 10 products. i can NOT do that. there is just no way and who am i kidding? i'm obviously not fooling you when i say that i'm not buying any more makeup for such & such time. it's like i have to say that after feeling guilty for buying these things. oh, well! i'm only human! i went a little bit more dramatic in today's look... i think you can easily do that with purples, don't you think?

i'm excited to do this again with a navy blue! there's an awesome navy blue in one of the bareMinerals READY 8.0 palettes. sometimes i have so many ideas that i can't even pick one to start with! well, there are still many more days left in 2012 where i can definitely come up with more looks. xoxo Kathleen

FOTD show & tell cranberry smokey eye using the BUXOM Tango e/s palette

since it's Thursday, you get a show & tell video from me!

i'm not the expert at smokey eyes, but i try to practice whenever i see a dark color that i really love. in this BUXOM e/s palette, i picked "embrace" which is the dark cranberry color. i must confess... i think i didn't do a really good job at blending out the cranberry and the charcoal color... maybe that's why i got a thumbs down? i don't know... but that's okay... i'll just keep on improving, right?

for next week, i need to pull out one of the kits i bought in the past and try to recreate a look from that (or pick something from my box of inspiration). for the following week, i'll be on vacation so i hope to have a BE video pre-recorded to upload on that day. i was almost thisclose to skipping that Thursday and upload an OOTD or FOTD while i'm on vacation, but i really want to stay consistent. most likely, i'll be uploading really short "on the go" vlogs with a hint of beauty. BUXOM FOTD show & tell featuring the new Color Choreography Eyeshadow 5-shade palette in Swing

this eyeshadow look came out so nice! it was my first time using this palette and i think i did a pretty good job coming up with a look on the fly.

i can't wait to use the Tango palette next week. i love the fall-ish colors. i want it to be Fall already! it's not even Summer yet and i already want it to be cold again.

sometimes i feel rushed when i do a video like this because i worry that i'm going to have 1) a huge file to import into iMovie and 2) i'm going to spend hours editing. well, i don't think i've ever spent more than an hour editing, but then again, if i added more bells & whistles to my videos, i can see it taking more than an hour or two. anyway, when i'm not filming and just putting on makeup, i feel like i'm a lot more careful with my makeup application. when i'm filming, i feel like i'm put on the spot and all eyes are on me... even though i'm all by myself. doesn't that sound weird? i guess i'm still not 100% comfortable showing others how i put makeup on myself. i'd rather talk about it than show how i do it... yet i'm so excited to do these Thursday videos!

i really like BUXOM's first attempt into pressed eyeshadows. between the READY eyeshadows and this one, i prefer the READY ones more. BUXOM already dipped into the eyeshadow realm with their cream eyeshadows and i currently only have it in "mutt" but i'm expecting 3 more (which i already did receive today and i'll record the unboxing tomorrow). i wonder if they'll release cream eyeshadows in their bareMinerals line... then again, there are lots of rumors of new products that will be debuting on QVC on May 18th (when Leslie Blodgett returns after a long haitus).

anyway, i hope you like the look. i hope i can come up with a different look using the same palette. i already know which palette i want to get next... and you'll just have to wait and see what it is. xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! new BUXOM choreography color eyeshadow 5-shade palettes

i wanted to rip into the Sephora package i got yesterday but i waited patiently and opened it on camera today!

i was really excited to get this package because Bare Escentuals' other makeup line, BUXOM, released their pressed eyeshadows as well! the list of ingredients in these shadows are not as natural as the READY pressed eyeshadows that BE released in their bareMinerals line, but it really didn't matter to me. i just wanted them and i'm glad i did!

they are really pretty shadows and pretty pigmented, too. they felt smooth under my fingertips and swatched pretty good, too. i was so excited to try them on, i used the Swing palette in my Thursday's FOTD show & tell video... which came up next! xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals FOTD show & tell soft pinks & brown eyes

i decided during the video that i will be making these Bare Escentuals look videos on Thursdays. i might do them more than once a week, but for certain, i will be making them on Thursdays.

i was very happy to find the perfect color for my eyebrows! all it took was a bit of digging in my collection. the color is "serenity" and i got it with the Sea Yourself kit from QVC that i got back in late 2008 or sometime in 2009. i made a video on it on my old channel, but i can't recall the date.

my goal with these weekly videos is to use all my BE shadows at least once. it sounds crazy, but i have so many shadows that aren't even opened yet... today alone, i had to open up 2 shadows for the look! i haven't been keeping track of the shadows i've already used this year (except in the description box) so you might see duplicates pop up now and then. i just hope i'm able to use them all because some of the older shadows didn't come with sifters so they're already open and jammed pack with shadow. thankfully, i have never dropped them on the floor! that would make me cry!

so i hope you tune in every Thursday for a new eye look from BE. i will do other eye looks from other brands on the other days of the week, but Thursdays are reserved for Bare Escentuals. xoxo Kathleen

look at what i got! tarte Puttin' on the Glitz collection

due to the bad weather today, i was able to upload a video i pre-recorded on March 3rd.

the video was able to finish uploading and processing before i headed downstairs to a safer place. i didn't go downstairs all the way to the first floor (i live in a townhouse)... but i was glued to the TV as we were watching all the tornado footage here in North Texas. i'm glad we escaped all the tornadoes (well, the city where i live). other neighboring cities got some damage, lost power, and baseball-sized hail.

i didn't think i would be uploading a pre-recorded video so early this month! LOL but i'm glad i had stockpiled a few... i have a few more tags to record to add to my growing reservoir of videos so i think i'll have plenty on hand before i go on vacation later on this month. tags and hauls are just easier to film! i hope you are all well (and safe) wherever you live... xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals FOTD show & tell shimmery coral eyes

just another simple look... i'm all about simple looks because when i create a look like this, i'm just going to go out afterwards to pick up my hubby from work or run a few errands. when i picked him up today, he actually said, "you look nice today!" i think it was because of my blouse, but it was a nice compliment and i'll take it! LOL (normally, he's exhausted and just wants to go home and have dinner and relax.)

i did find a necklace older from TJMaxx/HomeGoods and i'm so happy! all my necklaces fit (except one that has a very long chain) and now it's prominently displayed above all my white makeup cubes. i don't have to worry about kicking the bulletin board anymore! it was really a pain to pick up all the necklaces that fell on the floor because i was always worried they would get tangled (which some of them did).

i also picked up a few more organizational items for my makeup table and it really cleared up a lot of space. i really liked the pink tray with 9 sections that i found in the baby section. it really cleared up a lot of containers that i had all over my table that was used for eyeliners and other stick items. i'll show everything when i am ready to film my makeup table. so that's about it for today! xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals FOTD show & tell a soft purple look

so YouTube did change their video manager because when i uploaded today's video, there is no mention on how much percentage has been uploaded. that totally irks me because i usually shut off my iMac when i'm not using it and i don't want to sit in my office waiting for the upload to finish. i know i can go back to the older upload manager, and i might just do that tomorrow.

so today i made a video based on the eye shadow colors that Lisa/lisaeckman27 said she had in her collection. i think it came out nicely and fits well with something you'd wear during the spring. i hope she likes this look! i am also loving that i don't have to use a lot of summer bisque (concealer). when i was putting on my foundation, it really covered up my spots! of course, i hate the new spots that came up, but at least my super old ones are finally on their way out. i just want my cheeks to be clear of spots (as well as under my nose). it's what you see first when you look at me.

i got some more packages in the mail today and i'll film them in separate hauls tomorrow. i already have 5 re-recorded videos to upload in April when i go out of town. i'm excited to share those videos with you! xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals FOTD show & tell my St. Patrick's Day look

so this look is the last one in my series of looks from The Women of B.E. Collection.

i only wore this look for a few hours but know me and my oily lids, it didn't crease on me AND my liner on my waterline didn't travel! i was shocked and very happy! i really liked the emerald green eyeliner (oz) on my waterline. i really need to wear more colored liners on my waterline!

i think i'm going to pull shadows from the Year of Beauty. i should've already done that, at least once a month, to cover each month, and i think i'm going to do that. so you might see one more green look this month because the March color is a pretty light green. so i hope you stay tuned! xoxo Kathleen

i came up with another look from The Women of B.E. Collection! it's shimmery and so pretty! i love it!

i think tomorrow i'll use this box of shadows once more because there are some really pretty greens in here and it's also St. Patrick's Day! i can't wait to show you this cute shirt my hubby got for me.

as a side note, i put up a talking video (not a text video) on my old YT channel explaining my move and i got a whole bunch of new subbies on my new channel! thanks everyone! i wish i was back to my subbie count before i opened this one, but i know it takes time.

i've also been chatting with Yun/beautybijouxfashion on Twitter and we're going to meet in person! i'm so happy to finally meet someone in the YouTube beauty community that lives near me. maybe i'll venture in some high-end makeup brands. one thing about restarting my YouTube videos is that i'm now watching videos about high-end makeup brands that i only dream to have in my collection! i don't think i should tell my husband... xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals FOTD show & tell smokey grey/silver

i was in a grey mood today (to match the skies) and i pulled out a few colors i hadn't even used before. the look ended up being more silver than grey, but it came out nice nonetheless.

i really, really liked the lip balm i used today! it is a very nice deep berry color. i Googled searched and they came out with these lip balms years ago but i guess i missed out on these. there are also no other new colors coming out or for sale. (i don't buy makeup off Ebay.) that's okay... i don't really buy lip balms and have way too many other lip products to go through anyway.

i need to do a spring look! i think i'm going to pick colors from the Women of BE collection. a subbie suggested it so i think i'm going to come up with a spring look from this collection. it'll be fun! xoxo Kathleen

what's in my stash? bareMinerals High Shine eyecolor

i had forgotten about these shadows in my collection! i even forgot to mention 2 of them (in pots) in the video as well. i remember getting them for the first time and the sales associate at the boutique had the teal one on her eyes and they were SO PRETTY.

they do have some fallout during application so just remember to sweep it away before you finish off your face or before you apply foundation. however, when you apply these shadows, they go on so smoothly and they're not chunky at all. they remind me of the MAC crushed metal pigments actually. i don't own any but i've seen them swatched and they are very similar.

i also actually like the sponge tip applicator. while the packaging/container is less to be desired, you really don't need a lot at all. really, a little bit goes a long way. i probably should've used one of the darker shades to really show off its pigmentation. i hope to incorporate one or two of these shades in an upcoming show & tell video.

 i also received the newest Bare Escentuals kit from QVC today! so i can't wait to test out the golden medium foundation and the rest of the products. that'll be coming up tomorrow! xoxo Kathleen

what's in my stash? bareMinerals PRIME TIME primer shadows

i think these PRIME TIME primer shadows are just as good as the L'Oreal Infallible 24hr or Maybelline Color Tattoo cream shadows. there are a lot more colors out there than i have (and i hope to collect them all!) and they go on just as smoothly and easily as any other potted or stick cream shadow.

i should also tell you that it took me a while to take off this eye makeup! LOL i mentioned this before but i don't really like wearing really black eyeliner because it just closes off my already-small eyes... but i wore it today - just because - and when it came time to remove it with Bioderma, i actually had to use TWO cotton pads instead of the usual one. talk about waterproof eyeliner! i will be featuring this eyeliner in an upcoming video - hopefully this week - before i go out of town.

speaking of going out of town, you'll get a kick out of the videos i'm going to upload. i watched the five that i found and i just cracked myself up listening to myself and watching how i edited the videos. wow. i wasn't very informal back then. i was just all business. LOL it's nice to see that i'm a bit more relaxed now... i like the way that i come across in these videos nowadays. i guess it's because i'm more comfortable in front of the camera than before... then again, the videos i'm uploading were recorded in 2009. oh, and even though i said that i wasn't going to mix in other makeup brands, obviously you'll see that in these oldies but goodies other makeup brands show up, but more than half of the products used will be from bareMinerals. i hope you don't mind! xoxo Kathleen

bareMinerals Year of Beauty & Love & Beauty collection

i really need to start using my BE loose eye shadows! OMG my collection is huge... so many shadows still unopened! how embarrassing. i think i will dive head first into my BE collection in March and include the BE shadows in my makeup basket of the month.

in other news, i became an auntie again for the THIRD time! now i have THREE nieces! as i said on Twitter, "more Hello Kitty stuff to buy!" i am so excited and can't wait to see her in a few weeks (at her big sister's birthday party). xoxo Kathleen

FOTD & haircut talk (... again!)

just a quick, short video today showing how i used the tarte smoulderEYES and emphasEYES eye shadow sticks. i love them! they stay on so well & hardly crease! i just use my fingers to smudge and blend them out. so easy peasy!

so i made my haircut appointment at a new salon for tomorrow at noon. i'm actually excited for this haircut because it probably has been about 4-5 months since... i just checked my calendar... my last haircut was back in August!

i have some pictures to show my new stylist and i hope he can adapt them to my face shape. i hope he can live up to my expectations (based on the reviews i read on Yelp). i am just dying to get rid of all my split ends and get my hair back to my natural color once again. (also, please excuse my ginormous pores... i really need to fix that... i even exported the video in large (480p) instead of HD (720p) and you can still see them. my pores are a result of having extremely bad skin back in middle school and high school where i was plagued with severe cystic acne. yeah, gross. fortunately my skin is on the mend... i'm extremely happy with the way it looks right now... it's 1000x better than when i started using Murad in June 2011. i hate looking at those pictures. anyway... xoxo Kathleen

Mally Beauty Defend Your Beauty #2

i didn't have enough daylight left when i filmed this video (as it got gloomy in the afternoon) and so i had to turn on a few lights. i think i still looked pretty decent in this lighting.

anyway, here's another "look at what i got!" video, where i show you what i got in the mail... this is the second installment of the Mally Beauty Defend Your Beauty collection. i believe there is one or two more left to go.

i have been enjoying Mally's products for a while now, ever since i saw Emily/EmilyNoel83 and Heidi/Jalapena2007 speak about them on their channels. since Mally is a Filipina and so am i, i thought i would try them out. i have only bought the sets and have been happy with what i have received. i am really enjoying the liners and the shadow sticks and her volumizing mascara is one of my favorites. there will be a video showcasing all the Mally products i have purchased. i hope you like this video. thanks for watching. xoxo Kathleen

what's in my stash? bareMinerals / Bare Escentuals READY eye shadows V1

holy moly! this took so long to upload! since i record and export in HD, when you save a file size for more than a 10 minute video, you upload over 1GB and it might take 2-3 hours. today's video took about 236 minutes... and if YT slows down, it might even take longer. i love the HD quality (which is 720p or 1080p)... you can see a difference between 480p and 720p. i will definitely need to record earlier in the day so i can edit and upload before i pick up my husband from work... or else, i'll be sucking up the bandwidth at home when the hubby needs to use it. oops.

in this video, i also talk about my lighting, which always seems to be a constant struggle. i don't have those fancy schmancy light kits that some other beauty YTers have used. i have some Target standup lights (that MakeupbyTiffanyD uses) and some clip lights (that i also bought from Target) but i've been trying to use natural light. my makeup table sits in between the 2 windows in my office. i have horizontal blinds on those windows. i probably should've just pulled up the blinds to let in as much natural light as i can (instead of just opening them), but when i do, i look dark... well, like i'm sitting in a bit of a shadow. i would love to move my table directly underneath one of the windows, but i have a wire bookcase in the way that i can't move anywhere else in my room. i just don't want to look orange anymore in my videos... and it shouldn't be this difficult! LOL

so this is how i'm going to do my collection videos, if you haven't already noticed, under the "what's in my stash?" category. this way, i can share my 2 cents about these products without just showing them to you. i'll also have a makeup storage video, but that won't be coming in a long time... but it's definitely on my todo list! xoxo Kathleen
