just a reminder

coming back in the new year 2013!

hey everyone! so sorry for the extended hiatus! i totally didn't mean to abandon this blog... but i am gearing up to kick this blog into high gear in the new year. my goal is to continue to blog daily (as an extension to my current YouTube channel) and share personal tidbits, pictures, and product reviews of the items in my makeup collection, and a whole lotta fun stuff! so thank you for staying subscribed to me and following my blog... and if you haven't already, please subscribe to my YouTube channel for more videos to come in 2013! happy holidays!

post-weekend update

so i did good this time around and did not go shopping for clothes or makeup!

i'm really trying to stick to my plan of not going shopping for clothes or makeup until we go on our longer vacation next month. i only have to hold out until the 19th of May! i think i can do it...

i will also film a "what's in my travel makeup bag" for when we go on that longer vacation because most likely i'll take different items and more of it.

i did good this time, as well, with using all the makeup that i brought with me, except for a couple of things. one was a lip balm and the other was a lip pencil. i didn't really count the lip products i had in my purse because i always switch those out, but during this trip, i didn't even reach for them because i was too busy playing with my nieces and hanging out with my family. i didn't even reapply any lipstick... except for maybe once or twice... which is actually more than what i do on a regular basis.

i'm finally caught up with my blogposts for my videos! sorry for spamming your feeds... i just needed to complete it! thanks for reading... xoxo Kathleen

this is another test

please don't mind this post. ;) i'm having a bit of a dilemma if i want to stick with Blogger/blogspot or move to tumblr. i also have another blog (self-hosted WP) that i've had for years that i never talk about because i just archive my lazydaysies tweets in daily digests. i also have another Twitter account that i've had since 2006 (which has over 20K tweets) that i don't really use anymore (plus, it's locked down) because i wanted a clean slate with lazydaysies. i think blogspot and tumblr has its place but it's quite a lot of places to maintain... especially since the same content is cross-posted on all 3. i don't know. i spent a few hours tonight creating tasks with ifttt.com to emulate my tumblr to my WordPress blog so i really don't even need tumblr or blogspot anymore! however, most beauty bloggers use blogspot because it's really easy to follow them via Google Friend Connect. you can't really do that with a self-hosted blog unless you add the feed to your RSS reader like Google Reader. you can follow blogspot blogs and tumblr blogs with Google Reader as well, but they'll be mixed together. plus, tumblr is really pretty to look at. see my dilemma? okay, enough rambling... this post probably doesn't make any sense to you. maybe i should've figured out how to use my WordPress blog during my new beauty/YT adventure instead of spreading myself thin between Twitter, blogspot, and now tumblr. i need to sleep on this. one step forward

so i admitted to my friends & family on Twitter that i have a YouTube channel and a new blog. it took a lot out of me to do that because i was afraid of the response. i've spent a huge chunk of my life online, but i never talked about it with anyone except those who stumbled upon me and with some really close friends (and my husband). nowadays, Facebook and Twitter are household words. however, to find out you make videos on YouTube? that's just a little weird (despite the millions of videos uploaded daily). i've only ever met someone in real life that made videos on YouTube and she was a makeup artist at a MAC counter.

anyway, i sent the tweets out and no one laughed at me or unfollowed me. in fact, i got a couple of subscribers out of it! yay! i figure, those YouTube "gurus" started out in the same boat with a handful of subscribers, and through their determination, they pulled through and are now celebrities in their own right. one day, i would love to have thousands of subscribers, but i'm truly thankful where i'm at right now. i recognized so many familiar names who subscribed to my new channel!

i had a YouTube channel previous to this one and i even made about 170+ videos and gained about 1400+ subscribers! i still can't believe that... i'm not even a makeup artist! i only really started dabbling in makeup in October 2008 (and made my first video in February 2009). towards the end of 2010, i started to get burnt out. i even invested in a very nice HD video camera in January 2011, but by that time, i was getting suffocated at work and so i stopped making videos as well. i finally quit my job in April 2011 and took a much needed break from everything. i spent quality time with my family & friends, went on vacation (several times), and took care of myself, my husband, and my house. it was rejuvenating!

so in short, i've turned over a new leaf in 2012 and getting back into my YouTube channel and blogging again. i'm having lots of fun playing around in iMovie and making videos about my favorite things... and i will film bare-faced if i want to! my goal is to upload a new video everyday in 2012 as well as post in my blog. i hope you don't mind if i talk about my dog! i think 2012 will be a blast! thanks for reading! xoxo Kathleen
